The Power of Feelings: How Emotional Intelligence Can Make You a Better Parent

What is Emotional Intelligence? Simply put, Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is being smarter about emotions. EQ is a powerful set of learnable skills that can help us to become more aware, make better choices, and be more purposeful in our parenting.

Research indicates that higher levels of Emotional Intelligence can lead to better health, academic achievement, and stronger relationships!

In this fun and interactive class, you will gain:

  • Gain new insights into the meaning of emotions
  • Develop skills to recognize and navigate emotions in yourself and your kids
  • Learn a powerful process for managing emotional outbursts
  • Learn how increasing your EQ changes the way you deal with your family

The workshop is based on the proven EQ model developed by Six Seconds. Six Seconds is a global leader in teaching EQ to families, schools and companies.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
May is passionate about empowering parents with the skills of Emotional Intelligence (EQ). She was introduced to EQ when her first son started attending Synapse School, a Six Seconds lab school in Menlo Park, CA. After seeing the powerful impact of EQ lessons on her family, May was convinced that EQ skills are essential in developing happy, resilient and compassionate kids.

As Director of Parent Education, May teaches the skills of emotional intelligence through workshops, online courses and coaching. With her background in mindfulness and coaching, May helps parents, caretakers, and teachers to become effective emotion coaches to their kids.

May is a co-host of the parenting podcast, called Raising Humans, to be launched on Sept 1, 2016. Her blog posts have been featured on NBC Parenting Toolkit and Bay Area Parent. She also co-founded the Emotional Intelligence Vehicle (EQV), a mobile classroom that delivers lessons of Social Emotional Learning to students of under-served communities in the Bay Area.

Before becoming a coach, May earned her MBA at NYU Stern School of Business and worked in various internet start-ups.  As a marketing professional, May understood the power of emotions and its impact on product development, user experience and marketing communications.

Now she has the privilege of helping individuals and families understand that skills of emotional intelligence are learnable and trainable!
